Drukhari:
Vayre the Hunter & The Kabal of the Faithless
An excerpt of Vayre the Hunter, addressing the Kabal of the Faithless aboard his flag ship "Tartarus":
"Fools. Those damned fools. Like a whipped cur they come mewling back to lick their master's boots, pleading to the gods to take mercy on them, to save them from our fate. Now they pour their last hope and strength into birthing yet a new god, clinging to the desperate belief that this will be their savior and not a return to our greatest folly.
Their devotion and faith has made them blind, they can't see the truth as I do; by Aeldari hands was the Enemy made, and only by Aeldari hands can it be unmade. The time has come that we cast aside the tyranny of the gods we have created and become masters of our fate!
The path is clear; to be free of our eternal suffering, we must kill a God.
Brothers and Sisters, we take now to the treacherous paths of the Webway and the uncounted stars of realspace in search of an answer, the last answer. We search for the hallowed repository of the deepest knowledge, the darkest knowledge. We search for the black library itself. Somewhere in those ancient halls lies the knowledge, the power necessary to save our souls from She Who Hungers. Know this; we will find the Black Library and take its treasure for ourselves! We will return to Commoragh victorious, or not at all."
The youngest Archon by a few centuries, Vayre was born a slave in the fighting pits but rose quickly among the Drukhari, his ambition matched only by his cunning. Through ruthless manipulation and calculated betrayals he clawed his way to the top of his Kabal. Like all Drukhari, his soul is in constant anguish from the attentions of Slaanesh and the only salve is distracting the chaos god with the pain and suffering of others. This provides only brief and temporary relief, and Vayre has grown frustrated with the shortsightedness of his kin and their contentment with merely surviving their torment. He views the Craftworlders as no better, but the hubris of the Ynnari has spurred him to action. He fears that creating a new god will finally be the ruin of them all, and has decided that something must be done to ensure the survival of his race.
Vayre and the Kabal of the Faithless have embarked on an epic quest, seeking ancient and powerful knowledge. To that end, he's set his sights on finding the legendary Black Library, hoping to find the knowledge necessary to destroy Slaanesh and end their torment for good. To locate the Black Library and defeat its powerful guardians, Vayre scours the galaxy for ancient and mysterious tech and rumours, hoping to find a clue to the whereabouts of the Library and the weapon or allies necessary to breach its defenses. When his raiding party discovered a guarded Webway portal on Pyrriah, only to find the entrance sealed, they returned to realspace to investigate what other secrets the planet may hold. Now the Kabal of the Faithless weave their way through the escalating conflicts, setting their sights on the abandoned Neversun facility and the mysteries that lie within…
